Volunteer Opportunities at Patuxent River 4-H Center:
-
Summer Camps
Our summer camps are a cornerstone of our youth development programs. Volunteers are needed to assist with hands-on outdoor activities that teach survival skills, foraging, nature education, and environmental conservation. You’ll be helping to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards, fostering a deep appreciation for the natural world. -
Enchanted Woodland Fairy Festival
The Enchanted Woodland Fairy Festival is an annual event that brings families together to explore the magic of nature. Volunteers will play a vital role in setting up, parking, creating magical displays, assisting vendors and performers, and guiding visitors through enchanted fairy trail. Your creativity and passion for nature will help make this event truly magical for all ages! -
Naturalist Volunteers
If you have a passion for the natural world, consider becoming a volunteer naturalist. You’ll lead nature walks, teach local wildlife identification, and share your knowledge about native plants, trees, and ecosystems. Your role will be pivotal in helping campers gain a greater understanding of the local environment. -
Master Gardeners
Calling all green thumbs! Join us as a Master Gardener and help create and maintain the gardens at Patuxent River 4-H Center. Volunteers will assist with planting, composting, and teaching others how to grow their own sustainable gardens. Your gardening expertise will help foster hands-on learning about sustainable agriculture and the benefits of growing healthy, organic food. -
Herbalist Volunteers
If you’re an herbalist or have a deep interest in medicinal plants, you can share your knowledge with others at the 4-H Center. Volunteers share their knowledge of herbal remedies, plant identification, and sustainable harvesting. Help teach campers about the healing powers of plants and how they can be used in everyday life. -
Survival Skills & Foraging Experts
As a volunteer in survival skills and foraging, you’ll be able to pass on invaluable knowledge to others. Share techniques for wilderness survival, including shelter building, fire-making, and identifying edible plants in the wild. You’ll empower others with the skills to thrive in nature, offering life-changing experiences for campers and visitors. -
Sustainable Farming
Sustainable farming is key to ensuring a healthier planet. Volunteers will have the opportunity to help teach sustainable farming practices at the Patuxent River 4-H Center, including crop rotation, organic gardening, and composting. Your involvement will encourage campers to become mindful of how our food is grown and how they can contribute to a more sustainable future.
